GUARDIANS is an ambitious project that seeks to transform the management of small and medium-sized farms through innovative digital technologies. With a collaborative approach and focused on the real needs of farmers, the project fosters their role as guardians of the European territory, promoting environmental sustainability, operational efficiency and administrative simplification.

The project develops 9 digital solutions divided into three key areas:

  • CAP Simplification: Software tools to manage administrative reports and financing in an agile way.
  • Smart Agriculture (SMART): Hybrid technologies (hardware and software) such as drones for meadow care, AI platforms for crop monitoring, beehive and barn protection systems, and drones for wildlife management.
  • Environmental Valorization (ENV): Hardware and blockchain-based services, such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions monitoring and biodiversity assessment.

CTIC leads the development of integrated AI and blockchain solutions, ensuring that the tools are accessible, scalable and aligned with farmers' demands. It also drives the co-creation phase with key stakeholders and participates in the validation of prototypes in the field.

GUARDIANS is tested in 6 pilot cases distributed across 11 farms in Spain(Castilla y León, Asturias), Italy, Sweden and Czech Republic. These environments represent diverse climatic, socioeconomic and sectoral conditions, ensuring flexible adaptation to local realities. With the support of 95 farmers in deployment and replication stages, the project not only addresses practical challenges, but also builds bridges between technological innovation and agrarian tradition, strengthening the resilience of the primary sector in the face of global changes.
